Autumn Leaves in Yōrō Park
On the way to Yōrō Park
I left home at seven on a cold morning to go to see autumn leaves in Yōrō Park. On the way, the first snow of the season was seen on Mt.Ibuki. At the railway crossing past Genji Bridge, I waited for a train to come for about 25 minutes.
Daibodaiji Temple
At. Daibodaiji Temple which was located near the entrance of Yōrō Park, flaming maple and ginkgo trees were so beautiful that the statue of Kannon seemed pleased with the colors.
Yōrō Park
The beautiful colors of the maple, ginkgo, azalea and Japanese maple trees create various shades of color, dressing the entire mountain in red and yellow. There are tunnels through the colorful maple trees arching over the paths that enchance the romantic atmosphere.
On this day, the trees near the waterfall were still green. So I made up my mind to come again a week later.
A young man from Sapporo was aiming his camera against the light. So I followed him and this shot was the result.

A week later
A week later, the trees around the waterfall had turned brilliant colors, and the whole mountain was really magnificent.
On this votive wooden tablet a boy’s or a girl’s prayer was written as follows.
“I wish to live with my family for a long time. I wish my father’s business goes well.”
Yōrō’s specialty Kibi-Yōkan
One of Yōrō’s specialties is Kibi-Yōkan (sweet jelly of adzuki beans made of millet). Before Yōrō station was built, the area was millet field. So, they made Kibi-Yōkan. Not a few people, even from far away, come all the way to buy it.
